Gaffs & Bait Nets

The slim, tapered shape of AFTCO's Taper-Tip Fishing Gaffs makes them lightning fast in the water - easier to maneuver, and deadly accurate. They're stronger and lighter to bring fish into the boat quickly with less flailing and confusion. The tapered shafts of all the AFTCO fishing gaffs have thicker walls forward for additional strength, and thinner walls in the handles for reduced weight. AFTCO fishing gaffs are widely used on the finest sportfishing boats around the world due to their extreme strength and reliable design. AFTCO gaffs are available with swaged aluminum handles and also with tapered E-glass handles, which are extremely lightweight and strong. All of our AFTCO gaff hooks are fashioned from the finest marine grade stainless steel, with easy-to-sharpen triangular points.

Milt Shedd aboard the 5-Bells in 1956. The 5-Bells, owned by Packard Bell partner Herb Bell, was one of the early boats to pioneer sportfishing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Herb asked Milt to join him on annual trips to Cabo to help insure fishing success.

TAPER-TIP ALUMINUM GAFFS

The slim, tapered shape of AFTCO’s Taper-Tip Aluminum Gaffs makes them lightning fast in the water — easier to maneuver and deadly accurate. They're stronger and lighter too, so they bring fish into the boat with less flailing and confusion. The shafts are made from corrosion-resistant marine aluminum — the same material used in our famous “Unibutts®” — and they are “swaged” for uniform strength from end to end, but with no unnecessary weight.

TAPER-TIP FLYING GAFFS

The barbed hooks are made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel and will not straighten out in use. The triangular points give better penetration and are easy to sharpen. Available in 5, 6, 8 and 10-inch sizes. All four fit in the same shaft.
